Portfolio: Image 1

I have chosen this image as part of my portfolio due to its elegance and beauty from an everyday mundane subject found within the landscape. The colours and tonal range of the image create a soft and delicate appearance. The sharpness of the cross maintains full focus. The twigs and branches in the background give the image an abstract effect, adding to the detail and making it more interesting. The lined abstract form in the background could be representative of Piet Mondrian who uses bold line, networks of colour and only primary colours. I am pleased with my application of short depth of field to pick out the focal piece and blur the background.

However maybe it is slightly over exposed it may have been more flattering if I had dropped some of the highlight from the background. Although I believe this adds to the softness of the image and may not have been achievable if I had darkened the background.
