This module provides an overview of the photographic industry and issues affecting it in the present context. A contemporary understanding of what exists within the industry sector in terms of market, ethics and legality and health and safety is essential to lay foundation for the programme ahead. The Photographic and Imaging Sector will be reviewed with topics that address the range of practice genres that exist commercially, locally regionally, nationally, and internationally. This will continue into image production and output, photography retail, equipment supply and Industrial organisations and support bodies. There is a preliminary analysis of rights, ethics and legality issues relating to photography specialists. This is supported through the course membership and affiliation to the Association of Photographers. Health and Safety issues in relation to the programme and the industry are discussed and outlined.
